Carpet Repair
Why would i need carpet repair?
The number one reason people need their carpet repaired is because their dog or cat got locked in a room and tried to dig their way out. People also call us to repair their carpet because of carpet stains, rips or tears, burns and during remodeling. No matter how the carpet damage happened, we are here to help!
How does carpet repair work?
To repair carpet, the most common method we use is to replace the damaged area with a new piece of carpet or a used piece of carpet from another room you are replacing with different flooring. It is important to keep in mind that when we are using a brand new piece of carpet to replace an open area, the patch can stand out. Wear and fading of the open exposed carpet can sometimes look completely different from the same carpet that has never been walked on in your closet or carpet left over from installation. In many cases, we can patch carpet and one could never tell there was a patch. In others, it does stand out. If the patch will stand out, this is information we can provide to you before the patch is done.
how do you find matching carpet to do the repair?
- Most of the time there are some scraps left over from the original installation. These leftover scraps are the best place to start looking for a suitable replacement piece of carpet. Always save the scraps when you have new carpet installed.
- The next best place to find a suitable piece of carpet to do your carpet repair is in a closet. Often we will remove a piece of carpet from a closet to do the repair with and replace the closet carpet with the carpet from the repair or something that the customer found at a carpet store that closely matches the existing carpet.
- Very often the customer thinks that they can find an exact match at the carpet store. The chances of finding a match are not good. Even if you do find something that is supposed to be the same exact carpet, it’s likely that the dye lot will have changed ever so slightly.
will people be able to see where my carpet was repaired?
Benchmark Carpet Cleaning has several techniques to try to accelerate wear and age on the new carpet to match the wear on your existing carpet that is being repaired. In most cases, we can wear the carpet enough to blend in with your current carpet and no one can tell it was ever there! As much as we would love to get perfect results on every carpet repair, it is important to keep in mind that is it not possible for any repair company to make damaged areas look like they were never there every time. The results depend on many factors, including carpet type, available replacement carpet, color, nap length and more. Take a look at the photos below to get a better idea of what your carpet may look like after a repair.

I had someone else repair my carpet and it didn't look good, why?
There are many reasons a previous carpet repair may not have turned out the way you expected. In most cases, it comes down to the experience level of the technician who completed your repair. Anyone can cut out a piece of carpet and glue another piece in, but it takes a skilled professional with the proper tools and techniques to make those pieces match. Some reasons your carpet repair may not have met your expectations are:
• The new carpet has a slightly different color than the original carpet due to fading.
• Your new carpet patch has a different wear pattern than the rest of the carpet.
• There’s a gap between the seams of the carpet patch.
• There may be an overlap at the seams of the carpet patch.
